The Combination of Anti-Thymocyte Globulin and Basiliximab for Haploidentical Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

چکیده
Objectives: Identical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT) is associated with a higher risk of graft rejection when compared to matched sibling donor transplantations. Methods: The study included 34 patients who were treated novel regimen combining basiliximab, Anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) and conventional immunosuppressive in the recipients haplo-HSCT. Results: cumulative incidence grade II–IV III–IV aGVHD was 38.2% 11.8%, while rates limited extensive cGVHD 17.6% 23.5%, respectively. Laboratory evidence CMV EBV reactivation found 9 (26.5%) 6 (18.8%), relapse rate haplo-HSCT 14.7% at 1 year; 1-year OS DFS achieved 58.8% 55.9% patients, Conclusions: results suggested that basiliximab combined low-dose ATG could be promising treatment strategy

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Thalassemia
Thalassemia is an autosomal recessive disorder associated with defective synthesis of the α- or β-chain of hemoglobin. For β-thalassemia major patients, therapeutic options are either monthly red cell transfusions and chelation therapy or allogeneic stem cell transplant. Stem cell transplant is the only curative approach and success is inversely correlated with the degree of iron overload and h...

The introduction and evolution of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) could be traced back to 1950s, to the studies on interactions among irradiation, covering spleen and bone marrow from it and injection of bone marrow cells. Today, HSCT is considered a well-established, effective and promising means of therapy for various malignant and non-malignant medical conditions, both in chil...

Haploidentical hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation is an alternative transplant strategy for patients without an HLA-matched donor. Still, only half of patients who might benefit from transplantation are able to find an HLA-matched related or unrelated donor. Haploidentical donor is readily available for many patients in need of immediate stem-cell transplantation. Historical experience wit...

BACKGROUND/AIMS There is controversy about the prophylactic effect of anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) on graft versus host disease (GVHD) in the setting of matched related-donor hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This study assessed the inf luences of ATG on the incidences of acute and chronic GVHD and other clinical outcomes in matched related-donor HSCT. METHODS Sixty-one patient...

OBJECTIVE To review and discuss the literature on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) with haploidentical donors in Brazil. METHOD Literature review. RESULTS The haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantations have become a safe option in hematology since the 80s, with the possibility of ex-vivo T-cell depletion. However, its broad use worldwide occurred with the advent o...
